In this together, aren’t we?
This installation offers a sculptural approach with hybrid objects, illustrating how these themes can influence contemporary sociopolitical issues. In this together, Aren’t we? is a suspended sculpture representing the Paisley textile pattern, which is ubiquitous in fashion, from haute couture to pop culture. Originating from Iran, known as Boteh in Persian (meaning “bush”), this pattern spread through cultural appropriation, trade, and the migration of forms. This installation consists of a text work projected onto a hologram, accompanied by various small items such as paper phones I purchased in Taipei, Iranian currency, and cotton strings that tie everything together within the structure.
